Neuromodulators are injectable medications used to temporarily reduce targeted muscle activity. In aesthetic medicine, they can be used to soften dynamic lines caused by repetitive facial movement, modify patterns of muscular pull, and improve facial balance while preserving natural expression.

At Heightened Aesthetics, neuromodulator treatment is based on your individual anatomy and movement rather than a predetermined injection pattern. We assess how the muscles of the face interact at rest and with expression, then determine which muscles may benefit from treatment and the degree of relaxation appropriate for you.

All four are botulinum toxin type A neuromodulators, but they differ in formulation, dosing and certain clinical characteristics. There is not one product that is universally “best.” Product selection may depend on treatment area, previous response, treatment goals, duration preferences and provider assessment.

DYNAMIC VS. STATIC LINES

Dynamic lines appear with facial movement as the underlying muscles contract and repeatedly fold the overlying skin. Over time, those repeated movements, combined with changes in collagen, elastin and skin quality, can contribute to lines that remain visible even when the face is at rest.

Neuromodulators reduce targeted muscle contraction. This decreases repetitive folding of the skin and can allow etched-in lines to gradually soften over the duration of treatment. Deeper static lines may improve but may not disappear completely with neuromodulator treatment alone.

OUR APPROACH TO NEUROMODULATOR TREATMENT

Effective neuromodulator treatment is not simply a matter of counting lines or injecting the same number of units at the same points on every patient.

Facial muscles function in opposition to and in coordination with one another. Treating one muscle can influence the position or movement of another. For that reason, we assess facial anatomy, baseline asymmetry, muscle strength and movement patterns before developing a treatment plan.

The goal is not necessarily to eliminate movement. It is to use an appropriate dose and placement to address the concern while maintaining facial balance and natural expression.

Before treatment, your provider will review your medical history, medications, previous neuromodulator treatments and any factors that may affect treatment safety or results.

Standard Neuromodulator Pricing: $12 per Botox-equivalent unit

For consistent and transparent pricing, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Daxxify® are priced using Botox-equivalent pricing, making it easier to compare treatment costs across neuromodulator options. Actual product dosing is determined based on the neuromodulator used, treatment area, anatomy and muscle strength.

When will I see results?

Onset varies by product, treatment area and individual response. Some patients begin noticing a change within several days, with the full effect developing over approximately two weeks.

How long do neuromodulators last?

Duration varies by product, treatment area, dose and individual response. Muscle activity gradually returns over time, and retreatment can be considered when movement returns and the effect begins to diminish.
