SKIN QUALITY TREATMENTS

AVAILABLE AT HEIGHTENED AESTHETICS

Skin treatments are nonsurgical procedures designed to improve specific concerns involving skin tone, texture, clarity and overall quality. Depending on the treatment selected, they may support collagen remodeling, improve the appearance of acne scars, encourage exfoliation or address visible pigmentation and sun damage.

At Heightened Aesthetics, treatment begins with an assessment of your skin rather than a predetermined procedure or standardized series. We consider your primary concerns, skin type, medical and treatment history, current skincare routine, sun exposure, tolerance for downtime and the changes you would realistically like to achieve.

We offer SkinPen® microneedling and VI Peel® chemical peels. These treatments work differently and are not interchangeable. Your provider will recommend an approach based on your skin, treatment goals and whether microneedling, a chemical peel, another treatment or a combination performed over time makes the most sense.

WHAT SKIN QUALITY TREATMENTS CAN ADDRESS

Depending on your skin, medical history and the treatment selected, SkinPen microneedling or VI Peel may be considered for concerns such as:

  • Facial acne scars
  • Post-acne discoloration
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Visible pigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dull or rough-looking skin
  • Selected fine lines and signs of skin aging
  • Neck wrinkles in appropriately selected SkinPen patients
  • Ongoing skin-quality maintenance

Not every concern should be treated with the same procedure. Pigmentation, redness, acne, scarring and textural changes can have different causes and may require different treatment strategies. Your provider will assess the skin before recommending a procedure or series.

Certain concerns may be better addressed with medical skincare, IPL or another light-based treatment, regenerative treatment or referral to a dermatologist. We will explain what the available treatments can realistically improve and when another approach may be more appropriate.

MICRONEEDLING VS CHEMICAL PEELS?

Microneedling and chemical peels improve the skin through different processes.

SkinPen microneedling creates controlled microchannels in the skin, initiating a natural repair and remodeling response. It is often considered when the primary concern involves facial acne scarring or when collagen remodeling is part of the treatment goal.

Improvement develops gradually, and a series of treatments may be recommended.

VI Peel applies a chemical solution to produce controlled exfoliation. Depending on the peel selected and the patient’s skin, treatment may be used to address concerns involving pigmentation, sun damage, acne, post-acne discoloration and uneven tone or texture. Visible flaking or peeling commonly develops during the days following treatment.

One treatment is not universally better than the other. The recommendation depends on what is causing the concern, the depth and type of skin change, your skin type, previous treatments, current skincare products and your tolerance for downtime.

Some patients may benefit from one approach, while others may receive different treatments at separate appointments as part of a longer-term skin plan.

OUR APPROACH TO SKIN QUALITY TREATMENTS

Effective skin treatment involves more than selecting a procedure from a menu. Similar-looking concerns can have different causes, and choosing an inappropriate treatment may produce little improvement or unnecessarily irritate the skin.

Before making a recommendation, we evaluate your skin, primary concerns, medical history, medications, active skincare products, recent sun exposure and previous procedures. We also consider how much downtime you can accommodate and whether your expectations are realistic for the treatment being discussed.

Our goal is not to perform the most aggressive treatment possible or promise completely poreless, flawless skin. It is to develop a thoughtful plan that supports visible improvement while respecting your skin’s condition, healing response and long-term health.

Your plan may involve a single treatment, a series performed at appropriate intervals, changes to your home skincare routine or a combination of treatments over time. If we do not believe a treatment is appropriate for you, we will explain why and discuss other options.

NOT SURE WHICH SKIN QUALITY TREATMENT IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

You do not need to choose between microneedling and a chemical peel before your appointment.

During your consultation, we will assess your skin, discuss what you would like to improve and review factors that may affect treatment safety, healing and results. We will explain whether SkinPen, VI Peel, medical skincare, IPL or another approach is appropriate for your concern.

Some skin concerns require a series of treatments or a combination strategy rather than a single procedure. Your provider will recommend the treatment, timing and home-care plan based on your skin rather than automatically placing every patient into the same protocol.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between SkinPen and VI Peel?

SkinPen creates controlled microchannels to initiate the skin’s natural remodeling response. VI Peel uses a chemical solution to encourage controlled exfoliation. Microneedling may be considered when acne scars or collagen remodeling are primary concerns, while a chemical peel may be considered for selected concerns involving pigmentation, acne, sun damage or uneven tone and texture. Your provider will recommend an option after evaluating your skin.

Can SkinPen and VI Peel be performed together?

They may be included within the same longer-term skin plan, but they should not automatically be performed together or scheduled too closely. Your provider will determine whether combining or alternating treatments is appropriate and how much recovery time is needed between procedures.

Do you offer skin quality treatments at both locations?

Yes. Heightened Aesthetics offers SkinPen and VI Peels at both our Seminole Heights, Tampa and Lakewood Ranch locations.
